You can’t visit LA and not hike up to the Hollywood sign; it’s practically a rite of passage. While the sign itself may be relatively underwhelming in real life, the walk through the Hollywood hills to get there is not. And if you time it right, you get spectacular sunset views thrown into the mix.
There are many potential starting points but the best place to begin your hike is in Griffith Park – we’ve dropped a pin below so you can find it easily. You’ll need to be reasonably fit as the climb is pretty steep and unrelenting… it’s 6 miles (just short of 10kms) and has an ascent of 1138 feet, but very do-able for most. If you’re struggling you can always stop to ‘take in the views’ and catch your breath :-).
