Celebrating the birth of Manifesto

A bit late to the best nine party, but better late than never. 2017 was the year Manifesto Kids was born – my third (and most troublesome 😏) baby… it is worth documenting.
What I have learnt is that while it might be easy to put together a ‘regular’ ecommerce site, a marketplace is in a different league. There is no off-the-peg, white label software solution… or, rather, what software there is tends to be limited and fledgling in its development. Everything is a bespoke creation… and there are not many developers (or indeed any people at all) with experience.
We launched in July – a cobbled together, barely functioning shopping platform that lacked many fundamental features, including a shopping cart or reliable payment gateway… pushing the MVP theory to the extreme. Over the rest of 2017 we scrambled together bolt-ons and upgrades until it resembled somewhere I’d like to shop.
With a growing user base and frequent questions around when we’d be launching the women’s version, it made sense to expand the scope of offering. Manifesto Woman was born.
Of course, I could not have done any of this without the people supporting the site. The biggest, biggest thank you to all the buyers and sellers, the vocal supporters on social media and my wonderful family and friends who have listened to me rambling on more than I care to admit.
Rock on 2018!
